It is the biggest Oceanic Island of Brazil with 346 Quadrate Km. and it is a mix of mountains, with the peaks of Sao Sabastiao (1379 m) and Papagaio (1307), covered of the tropical Forest of the Mata Atlantica with waterfalls and naturalistic paths, and natural beaches with clear waters and species of tropical fishes that are swimming together with the bathers. The little inhabited centre, grown around the Church Matriz de Nossa Senhora d’Ajuda (1806), and crossed by the elegant Rua do Meio, has an excellent availability of hotel infrastructures and services.
